Campingsex is the German man's Flipper, only better. Rumor has it that this album had quite an impact of Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. Again, click the "Listen" link above and then the "Play" button if you'd like to stream the track before downloading the entire album.

Friction, Friction, Friction. One of my favorites during my Japanese punk phase in high school. This minimalist punk band from Tokyo was formed in 1978, by bassist/vocalist, Reck. They went on to be very influential in Japan, releasing close to 10 records over their career. Their records are very hard to come by nowadays, expect to pay a pretty hefty price if you do find one.

Pere Ubu - 30 Seconds Over Tokyo b/w Heart of Darkness (1975)

Tracks:

Okay, so there was this band Rocket from the Tombs from Cleveland (NOT the same band as Rocket from the Crypt), that formed in the 70's. When the band split, David Thomas and Peter Laughner formed Pere Ubu, the rest of the band picked up singer, Stiv Bators, and formed the Dead Boys. Both sides took songs that were originally written when they were RFTT; Gene O'Connor and Johnny Madansky, who you may recognize as Cheetah Chrome and Johnny Blitz, took "Sonic Reducer" and "What Love Is" to name a few, David and Peter took "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" and "Final Solution". The Dead Boys went on to continue with the Stooges inspired RFTT sound, whereas Pere Ubu explored much more abstract territory. If you like this, I'd suggest The Modern Dance and Dub Housing.
